Koreans can do some exceptional fried chicken, and Chimmelier is among the best to do it. Pictured are the Drum & Thigh Combo Meals in "OMFG" Spicy Dry Rub and the Hot Yang Yum Sweet & Spicy Gochujang Sauce, my favorites. They also come with a side of rice and coleslaw. Chicken pieces are huge, meat is nice and juicy, the crisp chunky breading on skin done perfect. The Shrimp Toast bites are also a must get addition for any order.
Love the fried chicken however they only give one tiny container of pickled radish regardless of what size chicken you order. I ordered the 24 piece wings (largest order) and I only received one pickled radish which seems kind of silly because you also only receive one when you purchase the smallest order of wings too. The staff was very persistent on only giving me one and asking me to purchase additional pickled radish. Parking: small shared lot with other establishments
Let me start by saying, their facade signage they use at events is soooo cute! Looking like a little pocha and chicken street food shop, loves it! Let me second start by saying, I loved their brick and mortar sit down hanchic spot so I think I have a little bias in already loving their food. This latest concept has more street food vibes and I still love the food they serve up. In addition to their brick and mortar chicken shop (and other restaurant jilli), you can catch them at Smorgasburg sometimes (check the lineup). Sunday Smoragusburg is where I ended up finally trying Chimmelier out! I went super basic and just had a Korean hot dog, but that ish was superb! Great taste to it, perfect chewiness to the dough and perfect sugar coating. It was just delightful. I must go back soon to try their infamous chicken sandwich & soooo~ much more on the menu.
I ordered a grip of food here and tried as many of their dishes as I could! Overall, the chicken was great: juicy, tender, and still crispy even after being sauced up (which isn't the case for most places). Ordering online is easy and convenient. They do have a small parking area in front. Kimchi Fried Rice - If you like yours with a mild kimchi flavor, order this. I prefer mine this way (not super overpowering) Seasoned Fries - As they should be (not mind blowing, but not terrible) Wings - I was a fan of the sweet gochujang (great sweet/spicy combo) and the soy garlic (savory and garlicky) K-Tenders - I got these with the dry rub and they were great. Seasoning was great - savory with a little bit of spice. K-Chicken Burger - My least favorite thing I ordered. You can find better fried chicken sandwiches elsewhere.
This was honestly the best fried chicken ever!!! We had the 24 piece (soy garlic and OMG flavor), kimchi fried rice, and cheese corn -- all 10/10. Daniel was so nice and went above and beyond to create the best experience for us! Definitely coming back again :)
I've heard great reviews about this place so I decided to try it out. First impressions, the restaurant was under renovations so we had to order through a little window on a wall. There also wasn't any seating available. I got the Shrimp Toast, Chicken Sando, and Wings. I loved the shrimp toast! It was perfectly crispy. The wings and sando were decent. I think the flavor becomes over powering after awhile. Overall, I had a good experience. I'm excited to see how the restaurant turns out to be after renovations are finished.
Small spot in the less busy area of Koreatown/Westlake area that specializes in Korean fried chicken. This place came up on my radar because I saw their chicken sandwiches somewhere on social media. I got a sandwich and the tteokbokki. Both were so good! The chicken was fried perfectly and the tteokbokki was prepared well. Both came out hot and fresh. They even gave you some gloves with a wink wink joke to enjoy your sandwich while saving you from getting the sauce all over your fingers. The person here was very friendly and helpful, but you basically order from the kiosk outside. The vibe is like just an ordering window, but with a little assistance.
3.5/4 i loved the seasoned fries more than anything. I had a long couple days and all I wanted was some wings and fries. I placed my order online and head over. I went up at the time it was supposed to be done and was told 10 more minutes! Not what I wanted to hear going on a 13 hour day but I had no choice but to wait. About 12 mins later my food came out. Dude made it a point to tell me that he gave me gloves as well. I saw the marketing and found it very clever. Not one to let fried foods sit, I had to try things fresh. Let me just say, the fries get ALL the love! The wings were ok, honestly not my favorite. But the fries were crispy, flavorful and salty perfection. The wings needed the gloves bc they were sticky but I didn't use them. I can't rave enough about the fries!
I was lucky to get to enjoy Smorgasburg during my recent LA trip, and even better, I ordered a Korean corndog from Chimmelier's K-Corndogs stand (next to their K fried chicken stand). This was my first Korean corndog, something that has been on my foodie bucket list for a while. So I am a bit of a newb when it comes to this. But I feel like my bar has been set pretty high after this first taste. I got the potato encrusted corndog, half and half with half hot dog and half cheese, ketchup on top. A corndog is already decadent in a fair-food kind of way, and this was even more so. I would happily order this over and over again. I was also able to easily order, and only had to wait five minutes or so for my order. A food fest slam dunk!
